Required Title for Devlog Postmortem

I've been using Unity for over three years, but I've never really made anything cool or implemented complex systems. So my goal for this month long game jam was to push myself and make my first RPG with level progression, decent combat, inventory and AI. I wrote down plans, made a GDD,  drew circles connecting to other circles to really signify I planned stuff, and clicked the circles. But even with all the planning and able to visualize the solutions to the problems, I made no level progression system, or inventory, or anything RPGish. Well, I was able to create my first state machine (I think), my first combat/ability system, do AI in some way with the nav mesh things, work more with the animator controller and its animation states, a cool custom character controller that was able to handle jaggedy terrain (if you download my project, it is the testSandbox level where I did my time), and just level up my thinking in terms of a larger project.  I know there are definitely some code that is not good, but it is . I comment it down in there that ones I feel are potential problems. If anything, I think I spent way too much time on the character controller getting it just right. In conjunction with my first time implementation of making state machine-ish, oh, man. Yeah, good times.

In the game, my original idea was to have three quests. First would interact with some enemies to introduce combat. And I would show which skills to for certain situations because they are all casting types and you can get hit out of your skills. Yes, if you do a skill and you get hit out of it. It is intentional. Second quest would be a scavenger type where you gather certain items and materials. You would have to travel and jump to different kinds of terrain. And third would be a boss with cool introduction with the  cinemachine.

Well, I've been up for about 34 hours now making this game for the game jam. I'll upload pictures and fancy gifs after I sleep for a week. If you played my game, thank you. As always, any critique is welcomed. If it is really harsh, just give me a day or two to recover from crying into my pillow. I'm trying to git g00d, so I'm ready for anything. I honestly really prefer more of the code architecture suggestions because I am really trying to work on that more. And since my project is available on github, it is easier to do so. I know the gameplay is....well, it works. I'll leave it at that.

Thank you!
